Alfons Walde Portrait

Alfons Walde, born in Oberndorf (suburb of Kitzbühel), Austria, on February 8 1981;  died on December 11th 1958 in Kitzbühel, was an Austrian painter and architect.

Influenced by Secessionism, he created still lifes, landscapes and scenes from rural life. Alfons Walde became internationally known primarily through the posters he created between 1920 and 1938 with winter landscapes and winter sports motifs. His pictures shaped Tyrol as a winter sports country.

Catalog raisonné

The Kunstverlag Alfons Walde is currently compiling an archive of the artist’s work, with the intention to publish the first-edition of a catalogue raisonné that will present Alfons Walde’s body of work (in oil, tempera, aquarell, mixed media on cardboard, canvas and paper).

We therefore kindly request all private and commercial owners of original works of Alfons Walde to contact us regarding the inclusion of their painting(s). Once we hear from you, a representatives will be in touch with you to discuss all further details. Please be assured that ownership will remain absolutely anonymous – i.e., we will only publish or otherwise divulge the names of owners on request! The acceptance of paintings in the archive will be approved by a team of Alfons Walde specialists. The submission of existing certificates will be appreciated.
